Is Gambling A Waste of Time? You Bet Your Life…but not the way you’re thinking!

A barista won a sports betting contest, where he paid $3,000 to enter and won over $907,000.

When we think of gambling or betting, we usually think of it as a pastime. Of course, there are professionals that have the skill and temperament to do it as a living. But for the rest of us, it’s just for fun.

But what if you were actually gambling, and betting more frequently than you realize? Every day of your life, in fact.

Here’s a guy that wasn’t necessarily trying to do this for a living, but enjoyed putting in the effort:

Damon enjoys sports betting but doesn’t claim to be a big bettor. He says he’s a grinder and that he had entered the SuperContest the past three years with one entry and finished only above or right around .500 each year.

Despite not seeing instant results, he decided to bet on himself by putting in two entries this year:

Asked how he could afford the $3,000 for the two SuperContest entries, Damon replied, “I decided last year, after just having one entry, that I wanted to give two a try. I just saved my money by cutting expenses and making sacrifices in my social life. I worked and just got ready for the football season.”

He bet on himself, gave himself a chance to do better and it paid off. Now he’ll have other opportunities.

I’m not saying it’s time to get into gambling and betting.

But I’d like to ask, what or who do you choose to bet on on a daily basis?

Every day, we’re given a set amount of currency called time.

Do you bet on yourself?

  • Your skills
  • Your talents

Do you bet on relationships?

  • Family
  • Friends

Do you bet on community?

  • Civic organizations
  • Religious / Spiritual organizations

Do you bet on work?

  • Occupation
  • Professional accolades, your job title
  • Compensation

Do you bet on recreation?

  • Hobbies
  • Activities

What do you choose to bet on? Do you bet on more than one thing?

What are you hoping pays out in a “winning” result?

If you don’t choose to bet, or don’t know who or what you’re betting on, you’re just choosing to give away your time for free. I bet you might want to reconsider.

You’re betting your life on it, after all.
